Ian Macleod Distillers: A New Beginning
One of the most respected Scottish family owned companies, Ian Macleod Distillers took a forward step in strengthening an existing partnership. The company announced De Monnik Dranken as their new distributor for two of their major whiskey brands Glengoyne Highland Single Malt and Smokehead Islay Single Malt Scotch in the Netherlands, with effect from 1 January 2018.
Based in Oldenzaal in the Netherlands, De Monnik is an esteemed beverage wholesaler and brand building importer. The family owned business has been successfully functioning since 1918.
Stuart Thompson, Area Director for Europe expressed that right from the beginning of their association with Tamdhu Speyside Single Malt, the journey has been good. He said that he is delighted in further strengthening their partnership with De Monnik in the Netherlands by combining the distribution of their key whisky brands Glengoyne and Smokehead under the same roof as Tamdhu. Mr. Thompson added that with the united expertise of the two respected, venerable family companies, they are confident that their brands will establish a powerful platform upon which they can achieve immense growth in the Dutch market.
On the other hand, Mr Luuk Olde Monnikhof, Commercial Director at De Monnik Dranken, said that they are delighted to add the two unique Scotch Single Malt Whiskey brands to their portfolio at the beginning of 2018. He further added that they were looking forward to extend their collaboration with Ian Macleod Distillers after they became the importer for Tamdhu earlier this year. Since both the family owned companies are passionate about whiskies with heritage, they share the same value. From an importer perspective, Mr. Luuk added that they are familiar with this segment and there is no doubt that both the additional brands will add value to their portfolio.
Operating since the year 1933 Ian Macleod Distillers has emerged as a leading, family-owned distillers, bottlers and blenders. Liquor giant currently manufactures and sells more than 15 million bottles of spirit per year.
