Heaven for Members of the Scotch Malt Whisky Society
Drinking Scotch is not merely a fine act of indulgence for the founders of the Scotch Malt Whisky Society (SMWS). It goes well beyond that. Rob Carpenter, co-founder of Canada’s SMWS segment believes that the sensation of smell is often associated with the creation of unique memories.
SMWS has incorporated palate-pleasing flavors in their Scotch, like candy, dried pineapple and chili pepper. It seems Scotch whisky has evolved from an act of sophistication to one driven by a collaboration of prose and poetry to reflect on everyday things.
The Society bottles seven casks of their specialty whisky which is then sold monthly to their members around the world. Every bottle has a special code. The first number represents the distillery, and the second number denotes how many casks were bottled.
Members of SMWS are fascinated by the palatable experience that these bottles of specialty whisky has to offer. The Kensington Wine Market is the exclusive retailer of the Canadian chapter of SMWS. Andrew Ferguson, the retail owner, was of the opinion that the whisky industry cashes in on its “play on history”.
The bold and unique flavors range from “light, delicate, and fine to over-the-top, aggressive, and in your face” ones. On account of the uniqueness of the flavors, every bottle has its own eccentric label. Ferguson was quoted naming some of his favorite labels over the years—‘Wild West Cowgirl Dressed in Leather’, ‘Playing Sea Battle in the Garden’ and ‘Baby-Faced Arsonist’.
The exceptionality of these bottles of whisky is their exclusivity. A flavor is never repeated by the Whisky Society in their set of specialty whisky collectibles.
