GlenDronach Adds a Toast to Kingsman Sequel
In an effort at cross-promotion, Twentieth Century Fox and Marv Films are back with one more whisky collaboration for the movie Kingsman: The Golden Circle, within three months. Crafted by the Scottish GlenDronach Distillery, the Kingsman Edition 1991 Vintage pays homage to the main protagonist, Gary “Eggsy” Unwin’s birth year.
The limited edition scotch is a full-bodied 25-year old Highland single malt, with exclusively mature notes of a sherry cask. The nose is a mix of black grapes, maple leaf tobacco, and antique leather reign. The palate plays with hints of Old Jamaican ginger cake, Victoria plum, sticky black treacle, and Seville orange. Its has a luxuriant, nutty, warm and lingering finish.
The whisky’s creator feels the taste experience of Kingsman Edition 1991 Vintage is “rich” and “elegant”. The rare liquor has an ABV of 48.2%. The non-chill filtration adds to its complex flavors. With no added caramel coloring, the dark spirit looks glorious in its individually hand-numbered vintage bottles. The Kingsman edition label is highlighted in metallic gold.
At an RRP of £550, Kingsman Edition 1991 Vintage will be selectively sold at Master of Malt, Gordon & MacPhail, The Whisky Exchange, The Grapevine, The Whisky Shop, and Berry Bros. & Rudd, among others.
While the scotch hits the whisky stores’ shelves in September, the movie Kingsman: The Golden Circle releases on the 22nd of the month. The very idea of a liquor-film collaboration was the movie’s director Matthew Vaughn’s brainchild, who has admitted to loving GlenDronach whiskies. Back in May, Old Forester’s Statesman bourbon linked its name with the film. Interestingly, it is owned by Brown Forman, GlenDronach’s parent company.
Malt Whisky File by John Lamond
People who love whisky and are also absolute bibliophiles, are always on the lookout for books that have something to do with liquor-- whisky in particular. We try and find books that have been published fairly recently, and books that have been around for a while. (Ultimately, this hardly matters.) In each book, you may discover not merely a new brand or pairing, but also understand the basis of one expert’s opinion on a particular whisky, as opposed to another’s.Read More
