Bowmore Unveils New Whisky Trio
One of the oldest distilleries in Scotland, Bowmore has officially been in business since 1779 that has crafted sheer brilliance to whisky enthusiasts over the years. Taking forward their legacy, Bowmore launched its new single malts trio; Bowmore 18 Year Old Double Matured Manzanilla, Bowmore 26 Year Old Wine Matured and a final 27 Year Old bottling which is slated to release in 2018. The three in the vintner’s collection have been finished in wine casks.
The series of three comes from Bowmore’s No.1 Vaults, which is the world’s oldest scotch maturation house. These age statement whiskies banks on Bowmore’s signature flavour, selected for their unique character with aspects from ex-wine, sherry and port casks.
The first in the trio Bowmore 18 Year Old has been matured in ex-bourbon barrels for the initial 13 years before spending an additional 5 years in ex-manzanilla sherry barrels absorbing the rich gold colour. The whisky is bottled at 52.5% abv that contains a facets of blackcurrants, fudge and Seville oranges with a rush of peat smoke.
The second in the trilogy is the Bowmore 26 Year Old which is aged in ex-bourbon barrels for 13 years followed by the second maturation of another 13 years in wine barriques giving it a burnt red-brownish colour. The release is bottled at 48.7% abv and has been imbibed with a blend of dark chocolate, tropical fruits and smoke.
The final whisky in the collection that will complete the assortment Bowmore 27 Year Old is set to be released in 2018. It will be bottled at 48.7% abv that has been aged in ex-Bourbon barrels and finished in port pipes.
The trio whisky is an assortment of three gold whiskies that has been aged over time in our No. 1 Vaults, stated Bowmore distillery manager, David Turner. He added that each whisky offers an exclusive taste through their time maturing manzanilla sherry, wine, bourbon and Islay malt casks.”
Further, international marketing manager of malts for Beam Suntory, Judith Giegerich said that their No.1 Vaults is a treasure for them and they are proud to release an age-statement collection, which is not only premium but collectable. He added that the series reflects the significance of their maturity process that makes Bowmore as one of the world’s leading whisky makers.
