Arran Malt Marks Distiller Anniversary
Surrounded by the deep waters of the British Isles, Arran distillers has been known for their whisky which is made out of malted barley and “the purest water in Scotland”. This year they are celebrating their 40th year as Scotch whisky producers and the 10th anniversary of their master distiller. To commemorate that, they have brought to you the “James MacTaggart Anniversary Single Malt”. The new beverage has been crafted by master distiller James MacTaggart, from a collection of the Bourbon Barrels which have been in use to age the malt whisky since his beginning at the distillery back in the year 2007.
The limited edition drink has a “fresh and vibrant” nose. It has notes of lemon oil combined with salt. This creates a pairing of the symbolic citrusy notes of the Arran Malt with coast of Lochranza. MacTaggart said that the last decade has been extremely remarkable for the distillery as they have released their oldest malts such as the 18 Year old Single malt. He also said that he finds great pleasure and is proud to craft bottlings that are unique to the history of the island. He has played a pivotal role in building the brand’s reputation. Euan Mitchell, the managing director of the brand, has endorsed James’s efforts by claiming that he is a man dedicated to traditional whisky making, but with the skills of a modern whisky blender.
The whisky is being bottled at 54.2% abv and has been limited to 12,000 bottles globally. From the first weeks of October you’ll be able to get your hands on the whisky online at arranwhisky.com. It will also be available within the distillery shop, and at specialist whisky retailers worldwide at £64.99.
