A SUMMER BREATHER: THE LYNCHBURG LEMONADE
The Lynchburg Lemonade is a signature cocktail featuring Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey. Named after the Jack Daniel Distillery’s hometown, it is popular across the world. It was coined and created in 1980 by Tony Mason, a restaurant and lounge owner. Interestingly, he claimed that a Jack Daniel sales representative had stolen his recipe, which he contended had been a trade secret. He subsequently filed a lawsuit and after trial and re-trial, he eventually lost the case.
This cocktail is the perfect thirst quencher on a sultry summer afternoon, semi-tart and semi-sweet with the refreshingly sharp tang of lemon soda. Of course, you may substitute the Jack Daniel’s with any other whiskey that you like. This cocktail may be easily turned into a bowl of party-style punch. Just maintain a ratio of one part whiskey, lemon and triple sec, and four parts of the lime soda.
- Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey – 45ml
- Triple sec – 30ml
- Lemon juice or sour mix – 30ml
- Lime soda – 120ml
- FOR GARNISH: Lemon wedge
- Maraschino cherry
