The Desi Mule – Royal Stag [Moscow Mule]
The Moscow Mule is a popular vodka based cocktail which has inspired countless variations all over the world that have enticed cocktails lovers beyond any measure. A standout variation of the Moscow Mule are the many “Whisky Mules” that draw inspiration from the place the whisky belongs to such as the Irish Mule when made with Irish whiskey, Glasgow Mule is case of Scotch whisky and so on.
Today, we experiment to make The Desi Mule with Royal Stag, a potent, smooth and beloved whisky brand from India, the land that loves whisky more than any country in the world.
A pioneer in the Indian whisky industry, it was one of the first whisky brands in India to opt out of using artificial flavouring in their product. That coupled with a smooth drink has helped the brand cement itself as a legendary brand that makes it a wonderful base spirit for this delicious whisky cocktail.

- Royal Stag – 60 ML
- Lemon Juice – 15 ML
- Ginger Ale – 1 Can
- Mint Leaves – 1 Sprig
Step 1: Add Royal Stag whisky and lemon juice to a copper/brass mug, or a Highball glass.
Step 2: Stir gently with a bar spoon, add lots of crushed ice on top.
Step 3: Top the mug with ginger ale and stir a couple of times.
Step 4: Add a sprig of mint leaves for garnish and enjoy the Desi Mule!
