Macallan Welcomes London To Its First Lounge
It’s time to rejoice for lovers of rare and vintage whiskies. Renowned Speyside distillery, The Macallan, has opened an elite whisky lounge, on the mezzanine floor above the Four Degree restaurant at Vauxhall in London. The European-Japanese fusion restaurant is also a recent addition to the fine dining hotspots in the city. The Macallan Whisky Lounge is a first by the brand in UK. Its only other presence is in the Galaxy Hotel in Macau, China.
The whisky lounge is designed in a contemporary modern theme, with frosted glass for those who like to keep their affairs private. Before being officially launched, the restaurant and lounge hosted three Buddhist monks from Tibet. The monks stayed in the premises for a few days, praying and blessing the place and customers. This has created a relaxed and peaceful aura of the lounge.
For whisky lovers, The Macallan Whisky Lounge will be a paradise with an array of premium selection of whiskies. The separate Macallan menu comprises 25 rare editions and the largest official collection of Macallan 40-Year-Old in the city. Guests can also choose from a wide range of notable whisky brands, including exclusive bottles from renowned international distilleries, such as Bruichladdich, Highland Park, Glenfiddich, Glencadam, Tomintoul, Glenfarclas, and Old Pulteney from Scotland, Kinahan’s from Ireland, and Suntory from Japan, and independent bottler Samaroli.
The idea behind building an exclusive area for whisky was well elucidated by the Four Degree’s spokesperson. He said the purpose of the lounge was to give its guests an experience and not just to serve them a bottle. He believed that this will help educate them and show how special whisky can be.
To complete the premium whisky experience, the Macallan Whisky Lounge offers classic and unique food pairings that complement the whisky’s flavour profile. If you wish to mix your whisky into a fancy drink, the lounge can also provide a wide selection of cocktails.
With numerous whiskies available in the market, it sometimes gets difficult to choose which dram would stand out and give that exceptional feeling. With experts at the Macallan Whisky Lounge you can expect to try some of the best brands and bottles with delicious food and have an enlightening experience.
