If you are a lover of rare whiskies, take note. A calendar that includes whiskies from long-closed distilleries is now on sale for a whopping £10,000.
‘The Drinks by the Dram Very Old and Rare Whisky Advent Calendar’ is a wooden box that comes in a macassar ebony or walnut finish, designed by the cabinet maker Simon Jewell Designs. It holds 24 miniature bottles (30ml) of some of the world’s rarest and most-wanted spirits.
This year’s complete collection of calendars include premium whisky, whisky, old and rare whisky, Scotch whisky, Bourbon, Japanese whisky, American whisky, Irish whiskey, single cask whisky, gin, vodka, tequila, rum, Cognac, Armagnac, mezcal, and absinthe.
The range also includes the ‘very old and rare whisky’ calendar that was launched last year and is priced at £9,999.95 (US$12,945) with premium versions priced at £299.95. It features whiskies from some of the closed distilleries, such as Port Ellen, Karuizawa, and The Macallan. Furthermore, a 60-year-old single malt worth up to £19,000 draws special attention.
Adam Wyartt, global brand manager, Drinks by the Dram said, “As proven with excellent growth over the last few years, these calendars are the perfect gift for the spirit geek or serious imbiber in your life.”
He further added that he is thrilled to see how consumers want to trial more, explore categories, and price points. He is of the opinion that these Advent calendars are the perfect way of bringing that opportunity to family and friends.
The Drinks by the Dram 2017 Advent Calendars are now available and you can pre-order from Amazon, 31 Dover, Master of Malt, and from other retailers over time. The prices ranges from RRP £99.95 (US$130) to £9,999.95.
