History of the Chivas Regal 18
Brothers, John and James Chivas were the founders behind the Chivas Regal brand that first established as a grocery store in 1801 in the city of Aberdeen, Scotland.
Dealing in luxury goods such as spices, coffee, alcoholic beverages from different parts of the world including whisky, had placed the Chivas Brothers in the perfect position to make an everlasting impact in the world of Scotch whisky.
The Chivas Brothers were rewarded with a Royal Warrant from the court of Queen Victoria in 1843, making them one of the world’s first whisky brands to possess a Royal Warrant from the British Monarchy.
In 1901, the Chivas Brothers created their first proprietary blend, naming it the Royal Strathythan. In 1909, the brand officially adopted the name Chivas Regal when they created the world’s first luxury Scotch whisky which performed exceptionally well not just in Scotland, but also overseas and took the whisky loving American market by storm.
The Chivas Regal brand managed to capture the loyalties of several American elite including the great Frank Sinatra who was believed to have developed a penchant for sipping on a Chivas Regal before his shows.
In 1997, the Chivas Regal 18-Year-Old was launched to add some older, and more matured expressions to the brand’s inventory followed by the launch of the Chivas Regal 25-Year-Old in 2007.

The Chivas Regal 18-Year-Old is renowned for its intense and broad spectrum of nearly 85 flavor notes derived from it’s slightly higher than average malt content.
The Chivas Regal 18 is a blend of some of the finest single malt whiskies sourced from the most revered distilleries in Scotland, including the brand’s historic Strathisla Distillery situated in Moray.

Chivas Brothers' Blend Scotch

It was at the beginning of the 19th Century that blending pioneers James and John Chivas, two brothers from Aberdeen in Scotland, first combined different matured whiskies to create a unique ‘house’ character. Blending some of the finest maturing malt and grain Scotch whiskies, James and John were able to achieve consistently good results, setting a standard that would be handed down through generations. In 1909, Chivas Brothers made distilling history by creating the world’s first luxury Scotch whisky – a 25 year old blend called Chivas Regal. This sophisticated whisky has since become an international legend. Today, the guardian of the exceptional quality and famously consistent character of Chivas Regal is Master Blender Colin Scott, who has been involved with Chivas Brothers for more than 30 years – 20 of them in his present role.

Fireball Cinnamon Shot Whisky

MacNair’s was the eponymous blend of Harvey MacNair and Company of Glasgow and London, which owned Benromach distillery during the First World War. In 2012 its new owner revamped the packaging and released it with a competitive price to take on rival blend Label 5 in French supermarkets. MacNair’s Special Reserve is also available in Poland.Quite possibly a flagship blend for Harvey MacNair & Co. quite early on, of which there is little information available, the modern incarnation is bottled at 40% abv and features a high proportion of malt whisky.
