It is part of the brand’s core range of blended Scotch whiskies, and belongs to the super premium category. The Chivas Regal 18-Year-Old is one of the brand’s most coveted expressions, and is the handiwork of legendary Master Blender Colin Scott.

History of the Chivas Regal 18

Brothers, John and James Chivas were the founders behind the Chivas Regal brand that first established as a grocery store in 1801 in the city of Aberdeen, Scotland.

Dealing in luxury goods such as spices, coffee, alcoholic beverages from different parts of the world including whisky, had placed the Chivas Brothers in the perfect position to make an everlasting impact in the world of Scotch whisky.

The Chivas Brothers were rewarded with a Royal Warrant from the court of Queen Victoria in 1843, making them one of the world’s first whisky brands to possess a Royal Warrant from the British Monarchy.

In 1901, the Chivas Brothers created their first proprietary blend, naming it the Royal Strathythan. In 1909, the brand officially adopted the name Chivas Regal when they created the world’s first luxury Scotch whisky which performed exceptionally well not just in Scotland, but also overseas and took the whisky loving American market by storm.

The Chivas Regal brand managed to capture the loyalties of several American elite including the great Frank Sinatra who was believed to have developed a penchant for sipping on a Chivas Regal before his shows.

In 1997, the Chivas Regal 18-Year-Old was launched to add some older, and more matured expressions to the brand’s inventory followed by the launch of the Chivas Regal 25-Year-Old in 2007.

The Chivas Regal 18-Year-Old is renowned for its intense and broad spectrum of nearly 85 flavor notes derived from it’s slightly higher than average malt content.

The Chivas Regal 18 is a blend of some of the finest single malt whiskies sourced from the most revered distilleries in Scotland, including the brand’s historic Strathisla Distillery situated in Moray.

Complex flavors, an enticing nose and a velvety texture define the Chivas Regal 18-Year-Old, helping it stand amount many 18-year-old Scotch whisky expressions in the market.
